A Guide to the Portland Cultural District

Portland welcomes you!

You’ll find nothing quite like Portland’s vibrant, people-friendly Cultural District anywhere in the United States. Some have drawn comparisons to New York City and Washington, D.C., where cultural institutions border Central Park and the Mall. But here the focal point is a 12-block, linear stretch of greenery, statuary, flowers, green grass and tall trees known as the South Park Blocks.

You’ll know the Cultural District by the distinctive sign caps at each intersection between Market and Salmon streets to the north and south, and Broadway and Tenth Avenue from east to west. Beyond the district’s borders are other sites you’ll enjoy, such as Central Library and Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Take a stroll along the meandering paths of the South Park Blocks. It’s a short walk to any of the surrounding museums and theatres. Enjoy!
